On February 28, 2001 the Nisqually earthquake rattled the whole Seattle region. When the shaking stopped, one of the three massive chimneys on this historic registry home was sheered at the roofline. The owners of this beautiful home turned to the mason who had just exquisitely tuckpointed all three chimneys not a month before.

Having just witnessed All About Masonry’s craftsmanship and exacting attention to detail, the homeowners knew we could restore their century-old home to its original grandeur. After consulting with a structural engineer, Larry installed custom straps to anchor the 50-foot high chimney to protect it from future quakes, and then rebuilt 13 feet of free-standing masonry above the roofline. Rick Sever, fine contractor for historic homes and board member of the Historic Seattle Association was so impressed with Larry’s work on this project that he requested that All About Masonry, Inc. be added to the select list of contractors recommended for work on historic homes.
